78 Trans AM project out of control

Well here are some pics of my newest project. It wasen't supposed to be a project but due to a creative seller this is what i have.First thing to go was the junk dash then i hade to rebuild the dash harness. The next problem was a bad motor mount which evolved into removing the engine trans, stripping the firewall wheelwells and entire engine compartment.Interesting side note instead of just replacing the bad motor mounts{a 6.00 item} they actually drilled out the rivits that hold the scoop to the metal plate and remounted it over 1/2 inch to the drivers side.I have almost all the parts to put it back togetherand should start reassembly next week right now i am in the middle of painting. some of the goodies going into the T/A are VSE front and rear swaybars, solid subframe mounts, firewall braces, subframe connectors,A set of HOI racing Tri-y headers and a cast aluminum wet sump VSE oil pan . I will post more pics as i progress. Oh the motor is a 71 455 with 6x heads an edelbrock performer with a modified q-jet and a hei and a TH 350 trans

todays progress got the column bearings back in painted it and reassembled it with a new directional switch and lock cylinder. Got all the engine brackets and mounts primed and painted, and got the crossmember primed but ran out of paint to finish it. Also got the old column out of the car. Tomorrow is all about cleaning the subframe and engine compartment so hopefully i can at least get it all primed sunday.Oh and i also found time to open up the water crossover openings on the edelbrock performer{these are very restrictive} and grind some clearance notches in the aluminum vally pan so it dosend hit the bottom of the intake runners. Amazingly most of this wasen't even on my to-do list

Well i got a lot done over the weekend in between bike rides. The engine compartment is ready to get some paint I finished mounting the trans kooler, found a perfect spot on the inside of the front bumper, just have to bend up some steel lines from the radiator once it is in place. The headders look like they will be a PITA to get in due to the flanges being split by some dumbass but i have a plan of attack. Engine is all assembled except for the intake.I was very happy to see the rad support mounts are in perfect shape, I will be putting in the solid mounts for the subframe and rad support as soon as they get here, also have to install the firewall braces. If all goes well i should be landing the engine and trans by the end of next week.Every time i do this i forget how involved i get but i just can't leave anything untouched.
