Color for cowl / dashboard

Just wanted to check. I'm changing over from a blue to black interior and I need to paint the cowl black. The obvious is not to use gloss black, but i'm wondering if semi-gloss is even too much.

What do you think - semi-gloss or semi-flat black on the inside part of the cowl?

I'd use semi gloss. It looks cooler than flat or gloss for under hood and stuff.

I used a semi-gloss. It looks to be a perfect match for the original paint too. I tested before I sprayed. The semi-gloss just looked newer. After 5 years, it still looks great. Oh, I used it on the plastic panels too. Again, after 5 years, still looks great!

I vote semi gloss. I used it underhood also, and it looks much better than gloss or flat. Flat is too chalky looking, and gloss is too shiney for underhood and cowl area.

I'm using Rustoleum gloss black. I used this paint for years and never got a very high gloss out of it. Now that I'm putting it on my car, guess what? You got it! they must have reformulated the stuff, it's really glossy now. oh well, guess I xan live with glossy underhood parts.

Thanks guys. I ended up using Duplicolor semi-gloss after wiping the dash cowl with brake parts cleaner and shooting it with Eastwood self-etching primer. Looks pretty damn good.

Car goes to the painter tomorrow!

You know what? I did the exact same thing. So I lived with it until now. I'm getting a chassis black this time so I know it's the right color I want. Don't need any interior stuff painted, but engine compartment stuff all needs repainting. LOL
