RamAirThree's 1970 Formula 400 RAIII Drag Pack

Alright here is my beast of burden...... She is a 1970 Formula 400 RAIII Drag Pack.
She has 44k original miles and she is all original and matching #. She has a Muncie 4-speed and a 12 bolt 3:90 rear and no options including standard deletes associated with the Drag Packs. So I have the 15" Rallye package, ofcourse with the HD suspension, the exterior beauty trim package, and deluxe interior package and thats it, no tilt, no A/C, no center console, not even rear defrost. Strictly meant for light weight (under 3200 lbs) Ram Air performance and look good doing it, Gawd I love Pontiacs...... lol. Sorry....... . Anyway she is a long term full ground up restoration partly due to the cost of two daughters and in agreement to keep the rest of my toys with wifey. She has been sitting since 1984 in the second owners garage. Seems he bought it off the original owner who was his neighbor and was selling it to move out of state. He thought it would be a sweet first car for his son but his son was upset because he wanted a Corvette and after two weeks of kicking and hollaring the father gave in and bought him a Vette and the car sat in the fathers garage since. What did I miss in my childhood?.... lol. So anyway here she is....

and yet some more....... I am currently seeking out a clean shell or parts car to cut panels from and redo my own shell. I was originally going for OEM 1/4's which includes the jams but at 3k for both sides I am holding off unless it becomes a last resort. But anyway I have my hands full with the work but then again it looks alot worse in the pictures then she does in person.

Btw: The last pic with the zip-loc storage bag is actually a large size zip-loc bag. The reason it is posted is that is just one of many bones found under the hood of the car. Judging from the size of the bones and the quantity, all I can say is whatever was living under the hood, I am so grateful you decided to move before I brought the car home.... Thanks to this my friends made me name the car "The Bone Collector".

Thanks for checking her out.
~Lou

Thanks man and coming from you I appreciate that, I have been checking out your car on here and I think your car is pretty bad arse and looking just as great as she is mean. As for mine being modded, thats where I am at war with myself. I am afraid of butchering her so I will either just go stock and enjoy her with another toy I can get aggressive with or I am considering buying another 400 block and Muncie to play with and putting the original engine and trans away protected. I do however plan on restoring her completely stock and then going into some mods that can be easily reversed back to stock such as tubular control arms, brakes, sub-frame connectors, etc.

That'll be a sweet ride. I would get another engine to build, and keep your original wrapped up.

Can't wait to see some updated pics, but totally understand the the long haul overhaul.Got twin 13 yr old girls and an old house in constant modifications. have my 2nd 73 t/a in the garage since 87.original 455 gone but have a 72 455 and a set of 171 heads begging to take this condition 5 car up a few notches. seems like it'll be a retirement project.hope you beat me.good luck and never let it go.made that mistake once and have regretted it to this day.
