| Dented Stainless Steel Is there a tech article anywhere on how to fix dented stainless steel, I picked up some rocker panel trim that has a couple dings in it, but otherwise nice shape. Looking to fix these up, any advice or articles?

| You fix SS like anything else. Hammer and dolly. Once the dents are out, you will need to smooth it with a file or sand paper. Then it will polish up real pretty-like.

| Eastwood sells a bag and plastic hammers to for fragile pieces. Rocker trim I would do like Mike said and hammer and dolly it. Just take your time.

| Yeah! I still need to get a set of those plastic hammers. They would save a lot of time with clean up on stuff like that. Not that I do much with that stuff. LOL!

| Go with the plastic hammers and bag. Hammer and dolly work can squish the metal and possibly cause "oil canning" that will be impossible to remove since you cannot heat and shrink SS without it discoloring.

| Often Small Dings Can Be Removed By Pressing Them Out From The Back. Small Hardwood Dowels In Various Sizes (lowes Or Home Depot) In A Drillpress. Otherwise It's Pick And File. After Its Straight, I've Had Good Results With Sucessively Finer Grit Sand Paper On A Mini-d/a To Get It Smooth. Then On To The Buffer With Emery, Then Stainless, Then Rouge. Hope This Helps.......john | |||||||||||
