New Toy

I bought myself a x-mas present! Its a Borg Warner s400 turbo, with a 1.32 ar. This thing is suposed to be good to 1,000 hp. I am going to start the hot side mock-up this winter. I am shooting for 700 hp and having this thing done in about 2 years time. I will post pictures of my progress but this going to be a long term project. This turbo has a t6 flange and weighs about 45lbs!

That's one serious piece of machinery! Good luck with it. Bound to be a beast in the quarter mile.

That's one big ass hair dryer. Looks like a big diesel truck unit. Definitely good for some serious power numbers.

I think the s400 is a new replacement for the tv8101. They are for a 12L diesel engine, thats why they are cheap $585 The big drawback is all the fabrication to make it work. I enjoy a good challenge!! The guys on turbo mustangs board are getting mid 9's out of these with sbc's. Im thinkin on a 462 Pontiac it will make a good combo for the street, should spool by 2500 rpm's.

Well I got around to finding a spot on my car to mount the turbo. It took me about 3 hours just to figure out where to put it! Right now the bracket under the turbo is temporary till I make a bracket out of 1/4 in. plate. I used lighter steel pieces to make the bracket tacked it up, but the damn thing broke the bracket when I mounted the turbo to it! had to start all over!

I bought the turbo from majestic turbo, they are out of Texas and are a site sponser on the turbomustangs web site. They have excellent feedback on tm. and I have had good dealings with them so-far.

No headers, I am using stock log manifolds. I am going to run 2.25 stainless straight down off the manifolds and make a 90 deg. turn to the front of the car merging the pipes just before the turbo. Ive spent alot of time under the car measuring and it should work. The pipes will run forward right under where the lower control arms meet the subframe. I dont see any ground clearence problems because where I measured the current hedmen header collector location,it is lower than where the pipes are going to be and they havent hit the ground.I will take pictures as progress continues. The toughest part will be the downpipe!

I dont plan on running a intercooler. but I may use meth injection.

Cool update

I had some time this morning to get some work done. I installed the merge to the t-6flange and fabbed up the pipes to the bottom of the car. This went pretty well and Im happy! Looks like this damn thing just might work. The way I ran the pipes it looks like I get to keep the sway bar and the lower radiator hose dosent have to be modified. I have tacked everything together for now my dad's buddy has a tig welder and is going to weld it up for me. Here are some pictures...
