Cool (2) 2+2 Projects

Part 1 of 2

My recent purchase and future project...

1967 2+2 428 w/auto
All original numbers matching!
Loaded with options!

Dont know what else to really say...lol...My other Cat will be used as a donor for this one.

Part 2 of 2...the other project!

Now with my car being 1 of 1,768 and knowing I'm not going to jump right into tearing it apart yet I have decided I'd like to try and create a registry to see how many of the 1,768 I can account for.

What would be important info to gather?

Is what I'm thinking overkill? I looked at some other registry sites to get an idea...

Owner
Location
Pic(s) of Car
VIN
Engine
Transmission
Exterior Color
Interior Color
PHS copy
Build Sheet copy
Options
Pics or information found on cowl plate
And anything else that might be applicable

What do you plan on doing to this beast? What type of restoration? Any mods? All OEM?

I'm doing the same for 1990-95 Cutlass Supreme convertibles. Yours is going to be HARD because it's old but it can be done. Out of about 25,000 CS convertibles, I've documented about 1300...LOL! And half have been wrecked or junked!

Your registry is a good idea but you need to be careful with the info you gather. I read a story a while back where someone took the info from a registry site for SD Trans AMs and started creating fakes. He was able to reproduce the VIN plates and was selling whole cars optioned as the originals were, overseas. He figured the real owner and real cars would never be the wiser. Turned out that one of his fakes was found over seas, bought by an unsuspecting American and "brought home" where it turned up at a show and the real owner of the real car was checking it out and made note of the VIN so he could see how close on the production line this was to his. Wow, pretty close, LOL

Just need to make your findings secure.

Good luck with the restore. I always have had a soft spot for the big cruisers with power.

I'm going to go through it and tune it up since its been parked since '85 and enjoy driving it the way it is for awhile.

I'd like to do a frame off resto but still need to educate myself before doing anything like that. You can never have to many books!

And there will be no mods...its all original so I think it should stay that way. I even have the PMD Disc Brake hubcaps to boot!

wow! that is scary! this registry would be just for me...maybe shared down the road depending on if and how many I can find...maybe if I share it then leave out the VIN or part of the VIN #? Or is that still a bad idea?

Leaving out the consecutive numbers at the end would work I would think, and protect everyone involved.
