So glad to hear that. Check it over real well. Joy rides usually end up with a lot of wear on the engine. If you find out how it was recovered let us know. Found sitting abandoned, actually recovered by siting the plates and apprehending the perps (ooo, too much TV, heh!)?? It'd be interesting. If they even tell you. Mark L

OK, left at 8 AM and made the 5 hour drive(each way -10 total) with the car trailer yesterday to pick her up. The PD had e-mailed me a list of what to bring with me on Friday. Went to the impound yard and dropped of the trailer and then went to PD to get the release. Guess what, car was still listed on the state computer as stolen and the detective that was assigned the case would have to release and he would not be in until 3.30 pm(this was about 1.30 pm). OH well, really didn't suprise me with the incompetence, but now I had 2 hours to kill. Drove out toward Tybee island and discovered Uncle Bubba's Oyster House. All I can say is God wanted me to eat there! Best food in the world! Owned by Paula Deen's brother(Uncle Bubba). OK, finally got the release and went to the yard to load her up, but first must settle with the yard for towing and storage. Keep in mind, they picked the car up on Friday and this is Monday. The fee came to 200 bucks! Oh well, let the raping continue. Made it back to Peachtree City at 10 PM, 14 hours total! Now about the car. The perps were driving the car and were arrested, all the info the cops would tell me is they have several felonies pending. First thing I noticed on the is the red "For Sale" sign in the window! Next thing I notice is the car still has my Tag on it! Found an expired "Tag Applied For" tag in the rear seat, it was from a legitamte dealer but it expired on 10-30 so my guess is the thieves got brave enough and reinstalled the correct tag! That is what helped me get the car back, thank God for stupid!! The impound yard had the keys and that is a good thing because all of the locks, including the ignitioon, doors and trunk had been re-keyed!!! My original keys would not work! Makes me wonder if the thief was also a locksmith? Inside were some real nice clothes from the hood, 9 beers, baby shoes and cigars. Nice combo huh, stolen car with a baby and alcohol. The car overall is in pretty good shape, the tires have the sidewalls really beat up and they have some deep cuts from jumping medians and curbs. The worst part is they yanked back on the dash and slid in a stolen VIN. Also the grills have several on the vertical strips broken and a few small dings. Overall it is not bad considering these Bozos had the car from June 10th until Nov 6th(5 months). The good news is my baby is home! Thanks to all who kept a lookout. -Jim

A giant pain in the ass but it ended well. Could have been a lot worse. Another one for the "stupid criminals" page hey?? Good thing is, nobody, you, friends, family, of yours were hurt in any way with the theft. Enjoy the car. Mark L

Thats great news and a cool story for the future. Sucks that you were the victim and had to cough up the towing/storage fee. My daughters boyfriend had his car hit by stray bullets from some party near where he had it parked. The police impounded his car to retrieve the bullets, then made him pay the towing company that brought his car to the police station.

At least your story has a somewhat happy ending.
My first Pontiac was a 67 GTO convertable which was stolen in Omaha in 1976, it turned up in the hood a week later stripped to the frame.
Even now I feel violated by the creeps who spoiled my fun. Keep us updated on your progress.

great news mate your out of pocket I know bet I'm guessing if they had of offered you that ending in October you would have grasped it with both mits hope you can clean it up and get back to ready to start stage again ..................had a ride pinched years ago had built the drive train it was fairly quick and mechanically sound was ready to tear it down and do paint and trim then bang it got pinched and trashed by a bum . I new who it was but told the cops nothing he shot through but bad for him was I knew where .............36 hour car drive each way or about 1k for flights what he wasn't counting on is after living in the shearing sheds for years and travelling all over Australia I knew hard people all over and the spot he went to was full of shearers .......they didn't kill him but he did ask to die the boys know how hard you gotta work in the shearing game for your $ and look very badly towards people that want to steal that hard earned. About 3 months later he was well enough to run away I found where he was and sent him a message saying another hiding was on the way , so he can spend the rest of his days looking over his shoulder. I lost a good car but I can sleep well knowing this maggot lost ( by a long way ) the war .

Australia sounds like our Wild West years ago. Steal a man's horse and if caught they hung him from a tree. Not much horse stealing went on-LOL. Now our government protects the crooks more than they help the victim! I enjoyed reading your story, thanks. -Jim

Your welcome Jim dont worry our goverment protect these maggots too. The sheds were hard and at times flawed but rules were an eye for an eye and you call a spade a shovel , when it came to peoples edicit* in the shed there were only 2 people ...........those that didn't fck up and those that did .Was the norm to leave my wallet on the top of my bed with about $100 in it no locks on the door at a shed with about 30 people working there never once did any money go missing quite often there would be a couple of people there that had been in jail ..........says a lot I think.
Good luck with the car mate and keep us up to date with the 455 fit really glad to hear your happy ending hope all goes smooth

WOW five month latter and it's in good shape, thats awesome. I had a buddy get his 79 Hurst Olds stolen right out of my drive way one night. Got it back a week later wrecked and stereo striped out. It was some punk 16 kid and didn't even get in any trouble.
