Replacing the body bushings

I've read a lot of people strongly recomend swapping out body bushings on old cars. How hard is this? Should I do it on my '59 before I put it back together?

How apart is your car? I've done it to my '73 lemans. It's not hard. You will probably want to replace the body bolts while you're in there. They rust from the middles to the ends.

Loosen all the body bolts(PB Blaster is your friend).
Remove the body bolts from one side of the car.
Jack up one side(L or R) of the body an inch or two from the frame.
Pull out the bushings, pry out the stuck ones.
Drop in the new ones.
Put the body bolts back in loose.
Do the same to the other side.
Torque the bolts to proper spec.

Ok thanks. I was thinking lift the front and then the back. It's easier one side then the other though? Thanks for the tips

Here's what my car looks like now. I'd like to get it back on the road by the end of the decade haha

Thanks man! It'll be an OK car when I'm done with it. It needs a lot of work but I'm almost ready to put it back together.

Got the bushings ordered...all 14 of them, along with new bolts. All the old ones came out easily with an impact. Not too rusty.
