Exclamation 70 firebird 461ci 4 spd project

Hello, Im wondering the same o questions, prolly answered a hundred times.
What is best intake to use with a stock formula hood. Not Ta Hood. This is a 461ci stroker ported heads 290-300fcm. aluminum flyweel,4.11 gears.150 cheater nos. Rpms to 6500. was wonderin about a performer rpm? victor Jr?. any info would be nice.

Next question: fill or not fill heat riser ports in head? street/ strip car will be drivin.
whats general idea of it? pros & cons?

Next Question: exhaust. lol 4-spd. any headers that i can use lock out? or any ideas for mods? Projecting 650-700Hp range. headers a must? or mayby ram air maifolds?

Don't have experience with the formula hood, but is your NOS a plate style that sits between carb and intake? How thick is the plate if thats the case?

The ram air manifolds are an option but do give up some HP over headers. I think High Performance Pontiac may have done a comparison a while back. Try checking their website.

Exhaust filling will improve the performance by cooling the intake charge. It will be a longer warm up time for the carb to smooth out. Manual or no choke will be a must on the carb. Winter driving if you're in cold climate will probably be out of the question. I ran a non heated intake during the winter once. The gas would ice up in the carb and actually pass through partially unburned until it got to the mufflers where it promptly started burning Wondered what the glow was when looking out the side windows. Found out when I pulled over to see the flames shooting out of the exhaust. That and the stallin out when it really ice up the carb kept me from driving it during the really cold/snowy days.

I doubt if you will be able to fit anything but a stock replacement height intake under that hood. A performer, yes, RPM, I highly doubt it. The RPM is 1-1/4" taller than stock. Might as well say 1-1/2" though. Maybe with a thin breather, or one that has a dropped base.

A torker 2 will fit and they flow well. You loose a bit of torque under 3000, but with a 461, that shouldn't be a problem. You need to use a square bore carb tho.

The Torker 2 is .625" taller than stock... or something like that.

I have ben told a bit now a torqer II will fit and performe well.. thanks for info on that subject. I had a edelbrock performer on car with a 1" spacer and fit, FYI.

Any exhaust ideas would be nice. 4-spd makes hard im being told. dont know if Ra maifolds will be good enough? Using edelbrock rpm heads o port, ported. would love some feedback pros and cons.. thanks guys

If you're getting header, get good headers. Not the cheapo, one size fits all, types. Go for something like Dougs headers or some other higher end header, because they will fit better, making any fitment troubles you might have with a 4-speed, less.
