Well, today I color sanded and polished the hood again, and it looks freakin' amazing! The front clip is now finished. I also ordered a new Crest for the nose, from Ames. The damn thing cost me almost 50 bucks, but whatever. I got the 78 Gold one, to match the rest of the car. I'll probably paint the chrome part black, because I don't want any chrome of any kind on the car's exterior.

Latest pics. Excuse the dust, and the big ass bug. lol! All of the badging is done. A lot of work, but I am really happy with it. Now I'll spend the next couple of weeks getting all of the damn dust out of my shop. Still have some clear coating to do, and some color sanding, so the paint work isn't completely done, but it's getting close.

The headliner is just about finished now, as kind of a quick side project. Basically, I found some "faux" leather material, and replaced the existing headliner with it. I used a 1/4" pleating foam as a backing, and placed the leather material over it. It's a simple cut and glue job. Turned out rather nice too. It matches my front seats perfectly as well. I will also be using this stuff in the rear package tray when I get around to it. All that's left to do to this is cut the hole for the dome light and wipe my sweat stains off. LOL!

Did you use any kind of solid backing like the original cardboard or just the foam?

I used the original cardboard/styrofoam liner. Stripping the old shit off is a pain, but once done, everything else is easy.

The vents are done. I glued the new honeycomb mesh on, and it looks pretty good. We'll see if it stands out or not on the car.

I'm also ready to rub out the paint. This is a pic of the quarter after just 2000 grit. Look at the shine already begging to come out. LOL!

And the Girlies go Whoo Whoo! Whoo whoo! And the girlies go Whoo Whoo! Whoo Whoo! LOL!

This is a pic of the sail panel after the first polishing step with the compound. The shine is already begging to get out like MaryAnn is begging to get in my pants! I still have three more steps in the polishing process. I have a feeling this thing is gonna look badass!

Indeed! I should finish up the polishing tomorrow. I'll be glad too, because it's starting to get old. LOL! I have a lot of other things I wanna get working on. Putting this thing back together is the fun part for me.

Read my color sanding and polishing thread in the Articles & Guides section, and you'll see.

alright, alright. I guess if I get time I will go look and see. Personally I like 3M buffing products.

I used to work at a paint store, so I got to play with a lot of different products.

It's kind of like the wife was saying last night... OH YEAH!! OH YEAH! OH MY GOD! OH YEAH!!!

The paint is rubbing out like Gordy at a strip club. Only after stage 2, and it looks better than most factory finishes. I have two more to go. Can you say, "Glass!" Oh yeah!
