RestoMod project

I've been hanging around another forum and checking in here from time to time. Thought I'd drop a thread about my current project. Started in May with a '66 Lemans vert. Stripped, media blasted and epoxy primered the body - then removed it. Blasted and powdercoated the frame. Last weekend installed most of the new pro-touring suspension and the Moser rear end. I have a TREMEC TKO600 tranny to drop in it. Motor will be along the lines of a 462ci stroker, hydraulic roller cam, forged crank, KRE heads. The body will look like a stock '66 GTO. No VIN swapping or anything funky - this is just a toy for the enjoyment of my son and I. You can see the progress at wmhjr_album/1966pontiac - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Here are a few sample pics....

That frame turned out really nice. Should be a great project.

Mockup 326 motor back in, driveline angle measured, ST300 off, new scattershield on and TKO600 bolted up. Tabs welded on tranny crossmember mounts. Today I'm fitting the new crossmember position and remeasuring the driveline angle. Then I'm going to cut the tranny tunnel in the body and plan to drop the body back on the frame for patch fitment. Then the body comes back off.

If you run want to run a scattershield w/block plate but are afraid of clearance, you should take a look at the Quicktime unit. This thing fits really well and actually seems as though it's providing more room than a standard bellhousing!

Looking good, LOL, I want the trans for my 64. I just can't see myself cutting the floor though. Keep up the pictures and the good work.

Well, here is what the carnage looks like. Body is back on the frame and new Energy Suspension bushings - but only temporarily to fit the modified tunnel patch.
