| 65, GTO engine fitment Hello, I am new to this forum and wanted to introduce you guys to my project and my problems. I have a 1965 GTO and I am trying to put a 1970 455 into it. Problem is that with the headmen headers we have clearence issues everywhere. The headers hit the fenders and the stearing shaft.what is the probem? For mounts we are using the stock cross member mounts and AMES solid mounts on the motor side. I thought about using risers to see if that helps but with clearence on the factory hood already tight denting the headers may be the only option. Any help is greatly apreciated, Thanx in advance Ramirez Racing for pics!! | |||||||||||

| Sounds like you don't have headers for the early GTO, but for the later goat or Firebird. When I had the stock frame in my car, I bought a set of Hooker Headers for a 64/65 and they fit with no problem, other than I had to modify a wrench, to tighten one header bolt. ![]() | |||||||||||

| I put a pair of Headman Headers on my '65GTO years ago and they fit nice and easy, I had to jack the engine up so high to get the old equal lenght ones off and I could have put the new ones in from the top since I had it jacked up so high. Boy I fought them old headers getting them on,don't know what brand they were. You could have a set with bigger tubes that might be giving you the problem also. | |||||||||||
