emblem holes removed

What is the easiest and/or best method to fill in the holes left behind when removing emblems and chrome trim? I plan to remove all trim and emblems from the fender on my 66 lemans, there are about 18 small 1/4"+- holes that were used to bolt on the fender holes and 326 emblem. The fender has been sand blasted and primed. I just finished weldig in a patch and I think it would be to hot to try to build up a weld over the holes. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

I welded in small steel washers that fit the hole, took the holes from 1/4" down to 1/8" then I just filled that hole with the welding rod. grind it all smooth and apply a thin layer of bondo. Just be careful hat you dont get it too hot and warp the metal.

Another way to do it is to use a long bolt that fits in the hole. Weld it in, cut it off, and move on to the next. You'll be able to grind it smooth, and use very little filler. Just stick the bolt in a little bit, and weld it in place. Real simple, and not a lot of welding.

If you have access and can reach the back of the holes you can use a piece of copper on the back side and plug weld em from the front. the weld wont stick to the copper. You can by some fancy copper tools for this but you can also achive the same by going to the hardare and buying a small sheet of copper and a big magnet.

Here's some of the tools http://eastwood.resultspage.com/sear...ustom&w=copper

Most of those trim areas will not be accessible, but it is a good way of doing it.
