Our 67 Firebird family project

I am new to the site and figured I would share with you Our Firebird project. I have 2 wonderful boys that will be helping me with this build and am looking forward to it.
It all started with my neighbor offering to sell me his 67 Firebird project car he had been working on for 2 years for $1000.00
This is the list of new parts on the car or what came with it.

Inner and outer quarter panels
Floors
Tail light panel
Sub frame connectors
Shock relocation brace
Rear five leaf springs
Poly bushings
Rebuilt front suspension and por15 sub frame
Rad cradle
Front disk brake conversion kit.
Brake lines
Gas tank with sender

I am sure I forgot to mention some items but you get the idea.

The car came with no power train so we picked up a 400 with a TH350 trans to rebuild, and a Nova 8.5inch 3.08 posi rear end. Here are some pictures of the start of the engine re-assembly. My son had to work to torque the mains.

It’s a great feeling to have a son who shows interest in your hobbies.
The only problem is when you show him how to do something like installing the rings on the pistons you only get to watch. He doesn’t like to share the work with me.
LOL. My ther son was sick when we did the short block so he gets to assemble the heads with me.

Is there a way to attach my pictures so they are already open in the thread?

It's nice to have someone who's hands fit in small areas too. Project's coming along nicely.

You can until they time out. I think it's about 10-15 minutes. You can edit as long as you have the "edit" button next to your quote button.

Here are some pics of mine, It is a 67 also, it may give you some ideas! I had to do mine by myself, my sons really aren't into muscle cars the think they are just old cars, they like these new subaru wrx's and the like.

Nice car!
That is way more than I want to do.
I am looking at more of a restoration.
I plan on completing the short block today and Monday the heads go for machining.
My boys are hinting at me giving the car to them when they are old enough to drive. HaHa

Tell the boys to save up their paper route money and buy a project car that you can all build together. It can be a family affair. That way, they won't feel bad when you don't put a bowtie on the bird and hand over the keys on their sweet 16 bday!
