Newby from Houston

Hello HARDCORE!!! I'm a new member from the Houston area. Current project is an 1981 T/A - No, I didn't keep the 140hp 305. Yes, I did keep the T-10 4 speed. The 305 (chevy) has been replaced with a 400 (chevy), and my intention is to run it a bit on the strip, but still have something I can use on the street. I have owned the car for a while but I haven't done much except look at it and start my research. This site looks like a great source of info, plus I hope to find other Pontiac people in my area. THANKS!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm looking forward to my contact with the group. It will be a nice change for me to get to talk to other Pontiac fans. At my office I only get to talk to guys that drive German, and that gets really old!

Hey Ryan, welcome to HCP.

I'm in Tomball and in the infant stages of restoring my 75 Trans Am. Its good to see other H-town peeps in the house.

Do you ever go to the Nifteee 50's car show on Satuday's at Champion Forest and Spring Cypress? I usually try and make that meet every couple of weeks.

Glad to have you on board, feel free to PM anytime.

I have never made it to that event. Since I now live in suburbia (Katy), I haven't been very persistant at networking in the automotive community. I would definately like to check it out. Let me know if you plan to go this Saturday and I'll make my way north.

A couple of years ago at the Houston Auto Show, I met some guys from TACH (Trans Am Club of Houston). I've been checking their site, but the last time I looked they didn't show the times of their meetings. They were meeting in the Sugar Land area once a month, but I don't know if they still meet.

I'll have to keep an eye on the weather. It looks like this rain is supposed to stay with us for awhile and it doesnt take much of a threat of rain to "wash out" that show. I'll check later this week.

You heard right! We had a little over 11" of rain hit at our house last night. My garage took on water, but luckily nothing was damaged. I moved to Houston during tropical storm Alison, so it just seems to be part of life here - although I do need to improve the drainage around my garage!

Once again, thanks for the warm welcome! It's great to know that there are still "believers" in the world! I'm kinda surrounded by German enthusiasts at work - their idea of modification is to flash the ECM. Hopefully soon I'll be able to light-up a couple of Goodyears to show them what turning wrenches really means!

Thanks to all!

If anyone around Houston is planning to attend the Keels & Wheels event in Seabrook, let me know. I hope to go Saturday.

I'm going to see if I can post something on the events section of the forum.
