officially started.

so i bought a sand blaster today.

pulled the air box out.

and the fun began. i cant wait to get finished!


i bought a 77 TA model on ebay hehe now i get to experiment with paint for pontiac big block blue


just had to tell people that i started.


so what are things i need to do/look for/ watch out for on a 77 ta restoration?

Ok, we need to educate you some. Pontiac had their own engines through 1979. All were the same block (no big or small block), just different bore. If it's numbers matching it is a pontiac engine. Take a pic and we can tell you if it's not a pontiac engine.

haha you had me kinda worried!

i was like what the heck....

i thought you might turn out to be a butt and tell me my engine was a piece of crap and to go buy a mod motor or something lol... i get that alot.

i plan on 470 cid around 450 hp ish when im done rebuilding her.

yea im still a bit confused as to what i want to do to it. ive just been out doing the free stuff while im laid off.

i need soem body parts and a whole interior. then redo the engine so.. a few years and ill be good to go! thanks for the help

Pontiac did drop alot of motors into the late second gen Firebirds (Chevy, Olds, Pontiac) But you definetly got you a 400 pontiac Just dont refer to it as a Big Block and you'll be good. Since your new to the pontiac hobby we are more than happy to bust your balls and give you shit! But in the end we will do whatever we can to help you!

im super well established and respected in another mustang forum, i know how it is on both ends

ive lerarned about everything there is to learn about the S-197 Mustang.

and im more than eager to larn about the pontiac

hope not lol, i blew the thermostat houseing off at milan drag strip a few weeks ago ( near dundee MI )

then got home and fixed it started it up and broke a rocker/spring/valve/push rod gonna have to open her up. i cant wait to get started on my 400

hmm guy told me with minor head work, cleaning up the cyls, and rejetting the carb. 470 would get me up there.


what do you have in mind? i want atleast 450 i mean thats my goal
