Angry HEI or Gost

Hi evryone, I'm new to this site and been a tin Indian fan Many moon's!
I've just finished putting together a 70" TA that Ive had for several year's.It's got the stock RAIII & 4 spd. It had had an hei upgrade prior to me.Now,I put in a new wiring harness from ames perfomance and new Petronix flame thrower distriburtor. Checked with harness maker Reproduction Wiring Harnesses for America's Muscle Cars tech's to be sure I had all the right wires going to the right places sense it's now HEI instead of point's!
Got the big green light! (also change feed wire from firewall harness to bat. connect
on distributor to 12ga.) New set of accell plug wires and set of ngk plug's gapped at 45* for this engine. Triple checked my timing (more like a zillion frigin times as well as firing order) using chilton shop manual for back up! SO here's the problem, fired it up and it ran for about 15 sec. on all 8 sounded good!! Then skipped down to 2cyl. on left bank & 2 cyl. on right. Pulled plug's... wet on non firing cylinder's (gas). Changed plug's hopping just by chance bad set...SAME thing. Pulled cap, rotor and modualar. Tested with testing unit from snap on , say's no good!! Cool, so i get another modulator and put everything back in... SAME FRIGIN THING!!! Pull and test modulator and this time it test to be fine but still same no fire on same 4 cylinder's. Next i try the plug wire's, hopping No luck there.. Changed out distributor to another petronix flame thrower and same deal !! So last thing I check voltage from wire that was up graded as mentioned from wiring terminal to dist. 12.4 volt's on meter. I'm sayin uncle, any idea's out there???????

Welcome to HCP, come on over to the New Member Area and introduce yourself.

You got me stumped with the Dist. I was going to say change the dist. but you already did that. I was thinking that the air gap inside the dist might be changing due to a bad bearing (slop) or something.

People please stop buying the pertronix junk, the mallory is the only unit to buy since the crane is no longer available.

We have a mallory running on one of the PowerTour cars and it never missed a beat

Also, stop using those Jap plugs. This is America, and we use American plugs in our classics.

Re: HEI or Gost

Wires? Are they making contact in both boots?

Also are you talking about an aftermarket HEI unit, or a magnetic trigger?

Thanks again for post GTODUDE, i chose this HEI as its Mech,Vac advance #s should work well with 72" 455 around 45-5500rpm max, w/Accel Super coil #140003 .
i put a Holley #6910,spreadbore 800cfm,carb on w/stock points Dist. and ran strong so the Hei should fire the extra gas charge even better/ what plug change would you recomend 1 step colder than stock or ??diff plug??type, ect. always open to sugestions
