| I need help. I used a painless wiring harness for an 86 camaro TPI unit. The unit is mounted in a different car. Everything is finally done. The distributor is getting no power. I've checked the wire for the iginition, the ground wires from the kit on the engine side and all looks good. But the computer is sending no power. I assume that the computer is in charge of sending the power? Right? It does turn the fuel pump on when the iginition is first turned on, so the computer is working to that degree anyway. Any ideas why there is no power to the distributor? I have emailed Painless to ask the same questions, but I know it will probably be days until I hear from them. Thanks so much - kip | |||||||||||

| If I had to throw a wild guess out there I would say check your neutral safety switch to make sure you are getting power to the ignition. I have to admit I am not familiar with the setup on an 86 camaro. But I do know that if you have no power getting through your switch to the ignition you will get nothing when you turn the key. It is at least worth looking into before troubleshooting further, especially if you are getting your 12 volts to the ignition but not out of it when you turn the key. | |||||||||||
