Upper Quarter Hole

My 78 T/A has a large rust hole on the drivers side rear quarter just under the back glass. I have not done much body work but "ain't scared" to try. Is this a common problem and will replacement quarters cover this much area? The area is 1.5 inches from rear glass trim. I would appreciate comments from anyone with this experience.

have ya got any pics of it. It would help to see the area. You may be able to fab a piece or buy a patch panel.

If I had any idea how to post a pict, I would. I play with cars more than computers and sometimes it shows.

The answer is no. No quarter patches for that area, and no quarter panel goes that high up. The other answer is yes. It's a common problem, as those rear glass channels collect and hold water, when the drains are clogged. There are still no full quarters available for those cars, that I'm aware of, so you'll need to fabricate a piece.

Also, if you want to post pics, go to the forum help section and read how to do so. there are instructions for everything in there.

Keep an eye on Evilbay. Full factory quarters come up now and then and would cover that area. Of course, they sell for around 5 bills. It would be cheaper to fabricate a patch, but you would want to check the condition of the rest of the panel first. It may need enough patching and repair to justify that full quarter.

Figured I would use Tin Indian's advise and get a donor car. Bought a 79 Firebird (complete car w/ 400/4V and auto). Body on it is better. Also got a lot of parts I can use and others I can sell.
