What year fenders interchange???

I bought a 79 Firebird parts car for the rear quarters. I was wondering if the front fenders would fit on a 78 T/A? I know I will have to cut for the scoops, but man the 79 fenders are solid and nice compared to the 78 T/A. Will there be an obvious problem other than the side scoops?

The 79 fenders will line up exactly like 78 fenders. All the mounting positions are the same from 77-81.

Great!! This will save a ton on parts and may give me parts to sell to recover most of my money to buy parts car.

How about the doors? The 79 Firebird has good doors with manual window cranks. The 78 T/A has power windows. power windows are nice till they quit working. Manual windows seem to give less trouble.

You can take the doors off any 2nd gen bird and swap them. They're basicly the same from 75-81, with the door handles being the big difference between 70-74 and 75-81. In other words, yes you can take the doors off the 79 and put them on the 78.

With a bit of work the only things that wont fit easily from all generations is the subframe from a late car on an early one, and the quarters 70-73 are different from later ones because of the chrome bumper. The rest might not be a perfect bolt on, but its close enough that you could make it work, it just wouldnt be concours correct..

Ive built a Chevelle show car and was worried to drive it. I just want a driver I can enjoy. Any idea how much is involved in "making it work"?
