  • Have Car Auctions and Car Flipper Shows Ruined the Car Hobby?

Have Car Auctions and Car Flipper Shows Ruined the Car Hobby?

Trying to buy a project car these days is getting more and more ridiculous. In fact, trying to buy any classic car for a good price is a pain. Could it be that these High End car auctions and ridiculous car flipper shows are in part to blame? The massive amount of misinformation on these car flipper shows is insane! It seems to me that Discovery likes to just make up stories about these cars to add rarity to them, and justify some fake high price tag for the car. In reality, these morons on these...

HARDCORE EDITORIAL: Building a Driver vs A Show Car

Building cars costs money. A lot of money! Every classic car is a money pit, whether we want to admit it or not. Whether it be keeping the stock classic running and looking good, or adding more and more aftermarket goodies to our rides, the costs are steep, and getting steeper all the time. I've told people many times that if you're in this hobby to save money, you're in it for the wrong reasons. It's not about the cost. It's about so much more.

For me, building cars is not about the...

  • HOW TO: HydraBoost Brake Booster in a Classic Pontiac (Part 2)
    Hardcore Pontiacs
In part one of this project, you saw how to get your new HyrdaBoost ready for your car. In part two, we get to install it. Before we get that task underway, we still have some preparation to do to the new unit. We can't do that until we get the old booster out of the car. This Trans Am was running a 7 inch dual diaphragm vacuum booster. It was shiny and chrome, but didn't work worth a crap on this car, even with a vacuum canister and an external vacuum pump. A lot of money has been wasted trying...

  • HOW TO: HydraBoost Brake Booster in a Classic Pontiac (Part 1)
    Hardcore Pontiacs
Many modern cars and trucks are using hydraulic brake assist boosters instead of the old vacuum style boosters. There are many advantages to a HydraBoost on a classic Muscle Car, especially for those of us with a big cam. The low vacuum problems we see with the bigger cams, cause all sorts of brake issues that are some times remedied with a vacuum pump, or canister, but not always. That's when it's necessary to upgrade to the HydraBoost systems, and get rid of all the extra accessories. The HydraBoost...

  • 2016 Indian Uprising All Pontiac Car Show
    LORD HARDCORE
I finally hit the open road after a busy year, and took in my one and only car show this year. Things haven't worked out as planned for me this year, so getting a chance to get out on the road and check out an All Pontiac show was a nice break. My goal this season was to get to a lot more Pontiac events, but time just never seemed to be on my side. We had planned hitting the event for almost a year, and even though I had a long time to get my car ready, I didn't. I guess there's just never enough...
One of the nicest cars of the show. Full polish on the entire engine!

  • An Aftermarket Cross Member for your 2nd Gen Firebird and a TH-400
    Hardcore Pontiacs
The TH-400 crossmembers for 2nd Gen birds are pretty hard to find. The misinformation of the web about what else will fit is certainly not hard to find. Especially for those of us with aftermarket parts on our transmissions, like an aluminum pan, and a urethane mount You cannot just flip the TH-350 cross member around and think it's going to work. You cannot just slide the 350 cross member back and only use two of the four bolt holes either. These 'little tricks may work on some cars, but certainly...

  • Monster transmission super sport th-400
    Hardcore Pontiacs
Pontiac Horsepower and Torque is pretty hard on transmissions. The more power you add to you engine, the more your transmission is gonna hate you. My 462 Pontiac Stroker has gotten to the point where I could no longer keep TH-350's working behind it. So the dreaded upgrade to the TH-400 was inevitable. I've never been a fan of the TH-400. It shifts like ass, and seems to slow the car down because of the higher 1st and 2nd gears. Although it's minimal, it still never felt right to me. But I finally...
