  • How long does a rebuild last?

    I picked up a Turbo 400 Today,had a warranty sticker from 2005.
How long should a rebuilt transmission last?
Who's got the best use out of their rebuild?
    Thanks.

Re: How long does a rebuild last?

warranties are usually 2years maybe 3 or mileage
        whichever occurs first
if it was not built right, you will know in first 25 miles. lol

my sneakers go pretty quick lmao
maybe 2- 3 months or so and feet start hurting.
wearing 2 pairs of socks help but doesnt compare to a new pair. lol

        fwiw, i prefer new balance
good price compared to others, and best comfortbility

usually keep 2 pair around a good pair and when they get worn out they become work shoes. lol

Can you have the new balance shoes rebuilt?

It will also depend on how the transmission was treated after it was rebuilt. Did it overheat? Neutral drops? Run low on fluid? Too many factors to just give a guesstimate even.

That's what I'm saying. U don't know what that trans went through.

I will say is Cudmore can rebuild a transmission anyone can.

A guy locally has 4 short tails sitting about...$100 each.
The fluid looks great in all of them, and he claims they all worked well when removed.
He'd got a barn full of projects and parts....seems like an up and up guy.
Can't really go wrong at the price he is asking.

Look at it this way, it's a Chevy engine so how much power will the trans really see. I think you'll be ok TH400 are tough ass transmissions.

Make sure it's a Chevy trans and not a BOP

I picked up both models as spares.
The BOP version says 79 as year built.
I'm guessing it had to come out of a Trans Am or Formula?
Most everything else was neutered at that point.
I believe the big cars still used the long tail version?
