  • oil pump drive shaft

look at what happens when the oil pump drive shaft splits at the oil pump!

2 pistons , 2 rods , #7 and 8 cylinders , roller cam ,oil pan and windage tray!

    it was a new shaft!

from now on i will use a stock shaft with a sleeve pressed on the pump end.

I dropped a valve once. not a pretty site inside. The oil pump drive shaft was S shaped and the hole in the block where it goes thru was broke out. Piston was in pieces, then one of the pieces got caught in the oil pump drive shaft and stopped it. It sheared the cam gear pin in the dist. and shot the dist, shaft straight up thru the cap.

well i stuck another 455 in the gp with a 270 comp cam. much better for a heavy car with a 5 speed and 3.42s.
